A HISTORY OF TRAVEL
The company that later became Rimowa was founded by Paul Morszeck in Cologne, Germany, in 1898, producing lightweight leather luggage.
The founder’s son, Richard, started trading under the name Rimowa (formed from the first two letters of the words Richard Morszeck Warenzeichen – ‘Richard Morszeck Trademark’, in German) and made further developments in lightweight luggage, partly inspired by Junkers aircraft.
A FAMILY BUSINESS
The founder’s grandson, Dieter Morszeck, runs the company today and has overseen further innovations in lightweight luggage – under his leadership Rimowa became the first company to use polycarbonate in luggage manufacture.
Rimowa is made from seven layers of virgin polycarbonate. The seven layers make it strong, the polycarbonate makes it light, and the fact that it is brand new polycarbonate means the colour goes all the way through.
DESIGNED FOR TRAVEL
Rimowa’s innovative designs include extra layering to strengthen corners, grooves and ridges to minimise scratching and Multiwheels for smooth handling.
MADE IN EUROPE
Rimowa have factories in Germany and the Czech Republic and the only parts of the cases that are not made in Europe are the YKK zips.
Rimowa continues to introduce new features into luggage. Their newest range, Ultralight, is the lightest Rimowa cabin multiwheel of all time. The new Topas Stealth range comes in a stylishly trendy anodised matte black aluminium. The next generation of cases will have suspension wheels
BUILT TO RESIST
Rimowa luggage has been tested and certified by the top German testing facility, the Technical Inspection Association (TÜV), for safety, quality, and durability. Rimowa’s polycarbonate cases are resistant to Ultra Violet light and temperatures ranging from 125ºC to -100ºC.
BUILT TO LAST
Rimowa cases come with a five year warranty
THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY
Rimowa’s success as a global brand has led to various imitations and knock-offs from rivals. You will know you have a genuine Rimowa product by the name embossed or engraved on each case and a 13-digit serial number, unique to each case, denoting the style and size, the factory that made it, the year it was made and who ordered it. The last digit is hammered in by hand, as part of the company’s commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Last year, Case Luggage introduced a world first to the UK with the arrival of the prestigious TecknoMonster range of real carbon fibre luggage made in Italy by leading luggage specialists, Orobianco.
This revolutionary new brand is the result of blending exciting cutting edge technology with the excellence of true Italian craftsmanship. The entire production cycle – from the carbon fibre production to the final packaging - takes place at the Orobianco factory in Casorate Sempione, near Varese, so quality, style and value is guaranteed at every stage of the process.
The first collection of this unique and aspirational brand has been on sale exclusively at Harrods since autumn 2013 where it has attracted significant acclaim thanks to its beautiful textured design and futuristic technological features, including carbon fibre shells and bullet proof panels.
Carbon fibre is used extensively in the aviation & space industries as it offers the dual benefits of resistance and lightness. It withstands thermal shock and chemical agents and is fireproof for security. The addition of optional bullet proof panels ensures that TecknoMonster cases are totally unassailable.
TecknoMonster is the brainchild of Orobianco CEO and Designer, Giacomo Valentini. With a background in the chemical, mechanical and aviation industries, Giacomo Valentini spent 10 years creating and producing high end trolley cases before coming up with the TecknoMonster concept.
By combining his extensive design experience gleaned in industry with his proven entrepreneurial skills, Giacomo realised that he had all the right credentials to create a totally new brand of high end luggage for business travel. And that’s how TecknoMonster was born in 2007.
Says Giacomo Valentini: “Every month I spend between 10 and 20 days travelling so I know exactly what it means to be away from home on frequent business trips. Your luggage becomes your home so space-saving, lightweight luggage is vital, as is reliability, practicality and security. The TecknoMonster range offers all these elements and more”
In March this year, Case will be launching a new generation range of TecknoMonster trolley bags boasting superb quilted leather linings, plus all the other unique selling points associated with this outstanding collection of ultra lightweight luggage for the discerning traveller.
Comments Case CEO Stephen Spitz: “TecknoMonster trolley bags demonstrate the outstanding quality of Italian design and production. As a symbol of excellence, they are sure to become icons of premium luggage”

Launching this week in the Travel Goods Department at Harrods are three exclusive duffle bags, designed and hand-made by Italian leather company, LAPA. Limited to only two pieces per colour, the bags are available in orange & black, pink & black, and mock croc & python. The bags have been crafted from the finest leather and feature beautiful metallic finishes.
The attention to detail is evident in all three colour choices. The white croc piece is complemented with glossy finished, mock python and silver brass zippers and studs. The orange and pink duffles feature shiny black leather to complement the vivid colour at the base of the bag. Measuring 50 x 30 x 20cm the bags meet the carry-on size regulations for the majority of airlines.
In the 21st century we are surrounded by technology, machinery and even robots that are designed to make life quicker and easier for all of us. It is therefore a relief to see that the artisans at LAPA still hand-make all of their pieces using traditional methods which have been used for decades. LAPA products feature a rich Tuscan tradition of hand-made, high-quality leather goods.
LAPA was set up in the early 1990’s by Nicola Stanescu, a craftsman and passionate Italian who combined his love and knowledge of leather with handmade craftsmanship and a passion for creating perfect bags and accessories. LAPA was born on these principles and they have been passed down through the generations of the family and still exist to this day.
The bags will be available from the Travel Goods Department on the Second Floor of Harrods, Knightsbridge. Stephen Spitz, Case CEO, comments “We are proud of the fact that Case is the exclusive retailer of LAPA products in the UK and these duffles will feature perfectly in our department in Harrods. At first glance you can see the quality of the workmanship that has gone into these bags.”

This Christmas it is all about leopard print and here at Case we want to help you follow the trends. Let us introduce the Lulu Guinness Leopard collection.
The team at Lulu Guinness took the pattern from their "must-have" handbags and applied it to their luggage, creating their most fashionable luggage to date. The carry-on suitcase has been designed specifically so that it can be taken on board Ryanair flights. Lulu Guinness luggage is extremely popular and is a must-have Christmas present for this year.
Externally you will find a smooth oilcloth coated cotton canvas material, whilst the inside features a soft-touch lining, in the iconic Lulu Guinness red colour. The clipper bags feature carry handles, a shoulder strap and a trolley sleeve which allows you to slide it over the handle of your suitcase.

The Salsa range from Rimowa has been a sensational success story and now continues in a more impressive way with the lightweight Salsa Air collection. When it was originally introduced to the market, Salsa was the lightest case in its class, but now, due to manufacturing and design improvements, the model is even lighter still. Salsa Air is up to 30% lighter than before, which still offering optimum stability. Salsa Air has redefined lightweight luggage.
Due to increased demand for the lightest luggage, a super-light version is now ready for take-off: Salsa Air Ultralight. This is the lightest Rimowa Cabin Multiwheel® ever. With this latest model, Rimowa presents another innovation in lightweight luggage and offers the ideal solution for carry-on luggage.
The gleaming polycarbonate luggage is presented in fashionable colours, whilst the details are distinctively accentuated in a black finish. Optimum mobility is guaranteed, thanks to the Multiwheel® system with full rotatable casters, the integrated multi-stage mono-telescope retracting handle system, and ergonomically designed carrying handles with soft, easy-to-carry padding. Built to the latest standards in security technology, the cases are equipped with combination locks set into the frame which are TSA-approved. This ensures easy, hassle-free travel to the USA.
The interior is just as impressive, thanks to a lining as airy and robust as parachute silk. Both halves of the case feature integrated net covers which are secured with zippers. This keeps the contents of the case safely in place while permitting access from both sides.

Brand new to the UK and now making its debut in the Luggage Department at the famous Harrods store in London is a unique piece of bespoke luggage, hand-crafted and made in America from 100% leather. Created and developed by University Lecturer, Steven Fischer, The Prairie Bag is hand-stitched by artisans in the American Midwest to Mr. Fischer’s strict brief of using only the very best quality materials & techniques to distinguish it from all other luxury travel bags worldwide.
Each Prairie bag is crafted from a single side of leather at the last remaining tannery in Chicago and hand-stitched by a master saddle-maker for two days in the tradition of fine leatherwork practiced in the Midwest since the 1800’s. A master blacksmith produces the buckles, the handle is hand-stitched by a harness-maker and the entire bag’s hardware is hand-machined solid brass.
It took Steven Fischer nearly a year to source all the bag’s component parts in the USA with quality & craftsmanship as the only requirements. It takes three months to make each bag, which at £8,250 is designed with the discerning luxury consumer in mind, hence its debut and sole appearance at Harrods.
Says Case CEO Stephen Spitz who sourced the bag from the USA: “The Prairie overnight bag exudes craftsmanship from every pore. It is a totally unique piece of luggage sold exclusively in the UK by Case at Harrods and we are honoured to have been selected by Steven Fischer to showcase it”
