SNEAK PEAK EXCLUSIVE: Samsonite’s Remote Controlled Cosmolite!
At CASE we like to keep everyone else in the know with all the latest and most exciting news coming out from the luggage world, and we’ve got to say, this exclusive is something you’re going to want to read about and then buy!
A couple of days ago, in a press conference, Samsonite announced that they had developed never before seen technology, a remote controlled suitcase. We have seen the evidence of the new remote controlled Cosmolite and we can’t quite believe it, it is something that you won’t believe until you see it, but we are certain that this is the beginning of a new wave of luggage based technology.
The benefits of the Remote Cosmolite are huge, picture the situation whereby you are running late to catch your flight or train, but instead of having to pull your luggage around with you in a hectic rush, you are the one trying to keep up with your remote controlled luggage. In addition to this, you wont have to bear the load of yours and your family’s load in your suitcase as the Cosmolite will glide by your side without any assistance.
It is so often the case with these unbelievable technological developments that you wont see the actual product on shop floors for years to come, however, we are excited to announce that Samsonite have stated that the Remote Controlled Cosmolite will be in stores (including caseluggage, com) at the end of this year!
Samsonite have in fact sent us a short promotional video of the new case in action, this is only a prototype but I’m sure you will all agree it looks fantastic and this is a very exciting, new product. Make sure to watch this space!
If you cant quite believe what you are seeing, and think it is too good to be true….you would be right.
Have a Happy April Fools’ Day!
Gillian needs to pack her bags
It seems that the Chinese Calendar has got it wrong this year, as 2010 has not been the year of the tiger, but instead the year of the laughable reality star. The British public first had to endure the graceful movements of Anne Widdecombe on Strictly Come Dancing, then listen to the out-of-tune vocals of X Factor’s Brazilian underdog Wagner, but surely the antics of food nutritionist Gillian McKeith, on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get me out of Here, is a joke too far.
If routine fainting and whining wasn’t enough, news today has informed us that Gillian has tried to get out of her last task by claiming that she is in fact pregnant to get out of the Jungle Jail. With further reports now suggesting that Gillian’s outbursts and never-ending list of phobias has led ITV bosses to excuse her from any more bush-tucker trials, we at CASE believe it is time for Gillian to pack her bags and leave the jungle.
The only thing left to do is choose the right case! Well seeing as we have all learnt how Gillian is quite a fragile character, who is easily put out of her comfort zone, maybe the Samsonite Cosmolite would be the ideal piece as with its special Curv technology it is possibly the most durable piece of luggage we offer. The Cosmolite can withstand any type of travel, even the force of a 4x4’s wheels, so we are confident it will get her through even tougher times than she has suffered in the jungle.
However, if it is class and dignity that Gillian is soughting after, after a rough time in the jungle, perhaps Brics are a more suitable brand. The Brics Life Range in fact epitomizes affordable luxury with a chic collection of suede effect brushed cotton pieces that are water resistant and trimmed with sumptuous Italian leather, that will certainly stand the test of time.
Finally, if Gillian is finding it difficult to part from her jungle surroundings, then we believe the Tumi Townhouse Carry More will be the perfect bag for Gillian to leave the jungle with. A luxurious leather holdall, which is ideal for short breaks or overnight stays, this piece offers a great deal of interior space whilst also having a striking design that will be sure to be a bigger jungle hit than Peter Andre’s “Insania”!
Widdecombe May Not be Light On her Feet, but the Cosmolite is!
Former Conservative MP Ann Widdecombe may not be taking gold for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, but Samsonite certainly are with their Limited Edition Gold Cosmolite case to mark their 100 year anniversary.

The Cosmolite, Samsonite’s lightest and strongest hard side suitcase, features special patented Curv® technology which is the same
material used in bulletproof vests, skates and skis thus allowing Samsonite to proudly claim to have the lightest, strongest suitcase on the market. This collection has won the Henry van de Velde Label 2009 award for a contemporary product, innovative in design and in the techniques used, and more recently the Red Dot Design Award “ Best of Best 2010”, making this 100 year landmark all the more impressive.
Unlike the Strictly Star, the Cosmolite is made up of some extremely lightweight material, and the new concept in thermoplastics offers exceptional resistance to impact, as many YouTube videos will show, where Cosmolites can be seen being trampled by trucks and standing to tell the tale.
The Cosmolite could even go as far as to challenge Miss Widdecombe on the show, as with its 4 wheeled spinner technology, we are confident that not only is the Cosmolite superb at dodging any tricky airport traffic but that Ann’s partner, Anton Du Beke, would have an easier job spinning it round the dancefloor! Suitcases have already featured in dance routines on Dancing on Ice.
With news this week that the Former Conservative frontbencher will not be quitting the show, we hope she keeps her never say die attitude and continues to entertain and improve, just like Samsonite has done for the last 100 years.
A Case Study by Case Luggage
The mission of Case Luggage both in store and online is to present to our customers the finest luggage and business pieces from around the globe. We look to offer a considered and succinct choice of brands and ranges that cover a variety of price points as well as uses – intelligent choice rather than bewildering and confusing mass of product. Below we set out some of our most popular brands and ranges for our customers.
Tumi is widely considered to be the best in class for well engineered, functional luggage and business pieces. The Alpha Travel Ranges feature the best soft sided luggage pieces for both check in and carry on. The 22021 Continental Carry On was designed specifically to meet British Airways and many other European based international carrier criteria for carry on suitcases. It has fast become our most successful selling carry on at £595. Whilst the Alpha Travel range is the core of Tumi’s business, new additions including Hard Sided Vapor Luggage and Alpha Bravo - a younger, more contemporary travel collection, have both had fantastic launches this year.
Brics has been a favourite of Case customers for many many years. It is the epitome of Affordable Luxury from a truly Italian label. The Rodeo Life collection is their core travel range, and it exudes styles and purpose with a mix of suede effect brushed cotton, leather trim detailing and fantastic use of hardware. This is a true timeless classic collection that adds style and panache to any trip. The best selling piece is the 202 holdall selling at £195. They have just redesigned their collection of trolley cases, and when these hit the shelves (and online) in November, we expect them to fly out.
For most people around the world, Samsonite is the first brand name most people think of when you mention luggage. Having just celebrated their 100 year anniversary, this is a travel goods company steeped in tradition of making and designing fine travel pieces. They have always been renowned for having a best selling hard sided travel collection, and today is no different as Cosmolite has been a roaring success for them. An immediately iconic design and exclusive use of a polycarbonate material called Curv, this collection of trolley cases ranging from £229 to £315 are ideal for all forms of travel – business, holiday, cruises and more.
We have covered the £200 plus market, but for those who travel less frequently but still want to travel in style, Delsey have been making great lightweight travel ranges for many years. The Fibre Lite range is it’s hero range of featherweight luggage. A memory shape fibre glass construction allows the case to be strong as well as lightweight. This is a nicely designed range – both externally and internally and is ideal for holiday travel. Trolley cases range from £139 to £159.
That gives you a taste of what we have available in store and online. There is plenty more to explore and see, and we of course always want to hear what you think about all manners of luggage and bags.
