The Final Harry Potter and the Final News of The World

So, this will definitely be a weekend of ‘Finals’, with both Harry Potter and probably News of The World employees both having to pack their bags. In both instances there are cases of good and evil. In the case of Harry Potter, most people, if not everyone will be sad to the see the films come to an end. The News of The World however is a different story – will you be glad to see the back of it, or is there a sense of nostalgia for a 168 year old British institution? Without getting in to the politics – as that is not our bag – that is for you to decide.

Our job as always is to suggest what bags each might pack for their Final Weekend.

For Harry Potter, we have gone for what may have been the first trick ever invented – changing water to … VAPOR.

The Tumi Vapor range has become a stalwart of our collection over the past few seasons and we have just see 2 new colours arrive for Autumn – Willow (not Hallows), and Copper (maybe better suited to Rebeka Brooks). Strength and lightweight combine to provide a fantastic suitcase for the serious, stylish traveller.

HARRY POTTER TURNS WATER TO VAPOR – BUT MAYBE NOTW EMPLOYEES WOULD PREFER THE SAME TRICK ON COPPER TOP REBEKAH WADE ….

As for the News of The World crew, well they will be hoping for a Transfer  – either to another one of Murdoch’s titles or maybe to a new home altogether . The Eastpak holdall series called Transfer, can certainly carry a lot of your ‘stuff’, and comes in small, medium and large. The Sunday Grey is very popular and may just about sum up the mood in the News of The World Offices this weekend.

So the question is – Will you watch the Final Harry Potter and/or Read the Final News of The World ?

Crash Landing at Selfridges

Can luggage be art? It can now … as Tumi introduces a collaboration with the urban artist John “Crash” Matos. His high-impact graffiti inspired work has travelled from subway trains in New York to top galleries around the world, and will be landing with a special installation at Selfridges next Monday 14th March 2011.

The Tumi Tag Limited Edition Collection will feature four new pieces for its ultra modern Vapor line, which we have often lauded for it’s distinctive design, look and feel – Crash, without doubt adds a different dimension to an already great collection.

Each travel bag will showcase a portion of Crash’s explosive new artwork. The interior of each bag will prominently feature one of four working drawings created by the artist and include the unique edition number that authenticates the case as a distinct piece in the exclusive collection. Only 1000 pieces of each of the four styles will be produced in addition to a one-of-a-kind i phone case.

After launching in Selfridges, the cases will also be available at our Harrods Travel Goods concession, and at the Tumi flagship store at 170 Piccadilly. You can also purchase online at caseluggage.com – order now and we will ship as soon as possible next week – stock is very limited.

How will you use yours – as luggage or a piece of art?

A Case Study by Case Luggage

The mission of Case Luggage both in store and online is to present to our customers the finest luggage and business pieces from around the globe. We look to offer a considered and succinct choice of brands and ranges that cover a variety of price points as well as uses – intelligent choice rather than bewildering and confusing mass of product. Below we set out some of our most popular brands and ranges for our customers.

Tumi is widely considered to be the best in class for well engineered, functional luggage and business pieces. The Alpha Travel Ranges feature the best soft sided luggage pieces for both check in and carry on. The 22021 Continental Carry On was designed specifically to meet British Airways and many other European based international carrier criteria for carry on suitcases. It has fast become our most successful selling carry on at £595. Whilst the Alpha Travel range is the core of Tumi’s business, new additions including Hard Sided Vapor Luggage and Alpha Bravo -  a younger, more contemporary travel collection, have both had fantastic launches this year.

Brics has been a favourite of Case customers for many many years. It is the epitome of Affordable Luxury from a truly Italian label. The Rodeo Life collection is their core travel range, and it exudes styles and purpose with a mix of suede effect brushed cotton, leather trim detailing and fantastic use of hardware. This is a true timeless classic collection that adds style and panache to any trip. The best selling piece is the 202 holdall selling at £195. They have just redesigned their collection of trolley cases, and when these hit the shelves (and online) in November, we expect them to fly out.

For most people around the world, Samsonite is the first brand name most people think of when you mention luggage. Having just celebrated their 100 year anniversary, this is a travel goods company steeped in tradition of making and designing fine travel pieces. They have always been renowned for having a best selling hard sided travel collection, and today is no different as Cosmolite has been a roaring success for them. An immediately iconic design and exclusive use of a polycarbonate material called Curv, this collection of trolley cases ranging from £229 to £315 are ideal for all forms of travel – business, holiday, cruises and more.

We have covered the £200 plus market, but for those who travel less frequently but still want to travel in style, Delsey have been making great lightweight travel ranges for many years. The Fibre Lite range is it’s hero range of featherweight luggage. A memory shape fibre glass construction allows the case to be strong as well as lightweight. This is a nicely designed range – both externally and internally and is ideal for holiday travel. Trolley cases range from £139 to £159.

That gives you a taste of what we have available in store and online. There is plenty more to explore and see, and we of course always want to hear what you think about all manners of luggage and bags.

Tumi Vapor – New Colours Arrive

Tumi finally entered the polycarbonate market properly with the launch of Vapor – a fantastic new series of polycarbonate cases that stood out from the crowd and brought a new design ethic and feel to the burgeoning polycarbonate market. The initial launch included Black Silver and Bronze which we could hardly keep in stock. That was followed by a glacier print – not sure customers saw the funny side as it launched at about the time all flights were grounded in Europe. Now, as part of the new AW10 colour palette , Vapor in Slate Blue and Blackberry has just arrived in store. Great colours for the season and they will also ensure you don’t get mixed up on the carousel. This is a one off release so snap up the pieces whilst you can. Available from Tumi Piccadilly , Tumi Selfridges London, Tumi at Harrods and online.
